On the subject of Assen, I think it is a well worth visit to go and watch at least once in your life, the trip is a good fast one, with some good stops on route, and at night you can go into Assen town where they have large tables set out in the town square, and waitresses come and serve you at the table with drinks or food, and the atmosphere is "electric" in the picture below is us sitting at one of the tables, so you can get an idea what it is like.....................

But what is even nicer, everyone is in a happy mood, and there is no nastiness, trouble, or fights, just a good time had by all, Having said that !! we did have a bit of fun with a "contest ??" and that was to see who had nearly sh ?t   themselves going too fast round a bend on the day before, and the winner, if you could call it that ? had a little surprise the next morning, what do I mean ? just have a look at the next picture and remember that most of it had been taken off by this time !!!!

AND it is removed whilst everyone is giving a good "jeer", The site itself   is not much ! although toilets, and a big food tent are erected for the race, and of course on the race site itself are all the usual food, drink, stalls selling bike stuff, and toilets etc, but if you are going to buy anything, then it is well worth looking round first, prices can nearly double the nearer you get to the entrance of the course !! I thought I might add a photo of the camp site so you can see what it is like yourselves, so thats it in the next photo below...............

We had quite a good pitch, but you HAVE to get there early to get one or you will be crammed in somewhere, I saw some tents that had arrived late having to pitch on the grass road itself !!! not the place to be at night if some idiot has had a drink or two and then rides the bike back to the site. mind you, not that you would get any sleep anyway ! it seems to be one long party of bike's revving the guts out as they bounce off the rev limiter, fireworks going off even at three in the morning, choruses of rugby songs, and general noise all round, so make sure if you go that you have a good stock of ear plugs !!
